My Name is Jane Craig

HELLO I AM JANE CRAIG. GI JANE, JANE OF CURLS. NOTHING IN MY LIFE COULD SURPASS THE JOY OF BEING MUM TO MY BEAUTIFUL 12 YEAR OLD.

I’ve been a nurse for around 26 years and also recently became an Essential Oils consultant. I’m in a desk job right now and hoping to get back into the theatre suite soon to do what I love – scrub/scout duties.

I’ve always strived to be strong – emotionally and physically. I married in my 30s, divorced in my early 40s, but I am still astounded at how good life is. I am a skier, hiker, runner, cyclist, swimmer and consider myself a ‘Cancer Thriver’ after having breast cancer in 2014. I am planning to grow a garden full of veggies and herbs – part of my plan to maximise my health.

I love the idea of this project finding the ‘interesting’ in the seemingly ‘boring’. As humans, we let so many interesting things pass us by in the rush.

My Mum wanted to name me Peta, but Dad said he already had two boys and that he wanted me to have a girl’s name. No one can make any cruel nicknames from Jane. In fact, I have tried in vain to get my friends to call me by a nickname.

I’m not plain Jane, I am… smiling, funny, a little eccentric, energetic, enthusiastic, caring, sometimes bossy (I am a nurse), optimistic. GI Jane, Jane of Curls.
