I was born in Britain, of Paris adoption. I have always been a great fashionista. I studied at the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne in Paris before embarking on my first career as a model. I then went on to work as Communications Director for Sonia Rykiel then, Christian Dior followed by a step over to American Harpers Bazaar as European Editor, all while raising my children.

After many years as a freelance fashion editor and stylist, contributing to numerous international magazines, I gained hands-on experience in every field of fashion. Ten years ago, my longtime dream of creating my own knitwear collection came true in the form of E+J cashmere. While working on the cashmere collection, I always find time to fashion consult and give lectures to fashion students, which I find most rewarding.

I've always been happy with the name Jane; I've never considered another name. I think it's a very straightforward, direct name...rather like me.

When I was at school, my three best friends were called Jane. We always sat together in class, so that the Jane who knew the answer to a question could put up her hand.

In France, Jane is a more unusual name so I enjoy its exclusivity. I always feel very British because my name is Jane. I'm a huge fan of Jane Birkin. I think she's done a lot to make the name 'Jane' very seductive in France.

I am not plain Jane ... I am enthusiastic Jane who lives life to the full and hopes that my interior self makes me attractive.
