I’m a pom, I was born in England, grew up in Australia and spent 11 years back in the England where I began my PR career working with Buckingham Palace Press Office through to launching boutique brands. It was an incredible experience. I married in London and had a fabulous son Nicolas and eventually moved back to Oz with Nick and kept on the PR path working with some extraordinary talent. I raised Nick on my own. Now 22, he has become an extraordinary individual, very independent and focused, he plays football (the world game), studies and manages a popular restaurant in Hawthorn.

As well as my communications work, I also design jewellery. I finally decided to launch my own label, Jane Is, about a year ago. I hand-make many of the leather pieces and the sterling silver is handcrafted by a group of artisans I befriended in Seminyak, Bali.

I don't know why my parents named me Jane. My dad has no idea and my dear mum who would, died way too young. It was not a family name, as far as I am able to determine. I guess mum and dad predicted I would be a bit adventurous and thought it was easier to call out a one syllable name over and over and over …

I enjoy life as a Jane, although it doesn’t define me. I am what I am through some excellent adventures, some hard landings and awesome friends and family who tolerate my eccentricities.

I practice yoga for body and mind. I started polo a couple of years ago and I am hooked. The ponies are incredible as are the people I hang with all summer whom also play or watch. You build a really close bond and partnership with your pony. I am in awe of horses; they are so intelligent, sensitive and powerful. I’m an adventurous spirit and love travelling and immerse myself in the places I go, I'm always thinking of the next destination.

I agreed to take part in this project because, why not. It’s good to try new things. Another Jane recommend I give it a go.

Apparently Jane means gift from God… just sayin’... and in the Urban Dictionary, Jane is short for marijuana.

I’m not plain Jane ... I’m colourful, enigmatic and free spirited Jane.
